Statehood Day 2023: Warm wishes pour in for people of Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura

"These jewels from the North Eastern part of our country are a source of much pride for all of us. I hope the beautiful people from these states thrive and prosper."

As Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura celebrated Statehood Day on Saturday, January 21, several national leaders cutting across party lines, took to social media and extended greetings and warm wishes to the people of the three states in Northeast India.

Along with Meghalaya and Tripura, Manipur became a full-fledged state of India on this day, January 21, 1972. Celebrating the day, President Droupadi Murmu, in her greetings to the people of the three states, stressed upon the richness and beauty of the three states and wished the people a bright future.

"Greetings on the statehood day of Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura. The rich culture, natural beauty and abiding traditions of these states enrich our diversity. The people of these states are known for their talent and spontaneity. I wish a very bright future to all of them".

Extending greetings on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi prayed for the fulfillment of the aspirations of the people.  

"Statehood Day greetings to the people of Manipur. The state has been progressing on several counts during the last few years. I pray that the aspirations of the people of this state are fulfilled and Manipur keeps strengthening India’s growth trajectory," Modi tweeted on Saturday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who recently visited the state and inaugurated several projects, expressed the hope that Manipur would reach new heights in development.

"Greetings to the people of Manipur on their statehood day. Be it in sports, arts, or in the armed forces- Manipur has proven its indomitable spirit & patriotism time and again. May Manipur reach new heights in development under the leadership of CM@NBirenSingh Ji & PM Modi Ji," Amit Shah tweeted.

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju also took to Twitter with a photo post addressed to the "loving people of the three states" and captioned: "On the occasion of Statehood Day of Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura I would like to extend my warm greetings to my sisters and brothers of the 3 beautiful North-Eastern States. My best wishes to the loving people of 3 States for a prosperous future with continued development".

BJP national president JP Nadda described Manipur as "beautiful, calm and serene", as he sent out warm Statehood Day greetings to the people.

"Statehood Day greetings to the people of Manipur. Manipur is beautiful, calm and serene with it's most ecstatic simplicity. CM Sh.@NBirenSingh Ji is doing exceptional work for the development of the state. I pray for the progress and prosperity of the state," Nadda tweeted.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also expressed warm wishes to the people of Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura and called upon the people to cherish and nurture the rich history and vibrant culture of the communities.

"Best wishes to the people of Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura on their respective statehood day. Their rich history and vibrant culture are the pride of India, which we must cherish and nurture," Rahul Gandhi, who is currently on Bharat Jodo campaign, tweeted.

In another tweet, Rahul said: "My wishes to friends in Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura on their respective Statehood day. These jewels from the North Eastern part of our country are a source of much pride for all of us. I hope the beautiful people from these states thrive and prosper".

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also extended greetings to the people of the three states in a tweet: "My warmest wishes to the people of Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya, the three states celebrating their statehood day".

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also extended Statehood Day greetings to the people of the three states.

"Greetings to people of Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura on their Statehood Day. These states are known for their rich, unique culture & natural beauty. May the states continue to progress in various fields,".

Among several others, Tripura BJYM president Nabadal Banik wished the people of Manipur progress and peace.

"Warmest greetings to the people of Land of Jewels, Manipur on their Statehood Day. The state is blessed with pristine natural beauty & a rich cultural heritage. Wish the people of the state progress, peace & harmony in years to come," he tweeted on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Union DoNER Minister GK Reddy also greeted the people on the statehood day and said the state today has evolved into a global trade hub as well as a sports and startup hub.

"On the occasion of Manipur's Statehood Day, best wishes to the people of Manipur. In the last eight years, the state has evolved into a global trade hub as well as a sports and startup hub. I wish the state all the best on its path to progress," he tweeted.

H Kehovi, Advisor For Tourism, Art and Culture, Nagaland government, pointed out the signifcant contributions made by the three states to the growth of the country.

"Wishing a very happy Statehood day to the people of Meghalaya, Tripura, and Manipur! The states have made significant contributions to the development of the country. Wishing peace, joy and prosperity to all," he tweeted.
