The Manipur government should ensure appropriate punishments to the culprits of the Heirok incident and people should not support the candidate who is behind the incident, said Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA) convenor M Tombi Singh.
The MDA leader was speaking during a visit to the injured in the Heirok firing at Raj Medicity, North AOC, Imphal West on Saturday.
The culprits should be punished as per law so that the society could learn a lesson and people should not support the candidate who is involved in the incident, he said. He said there may be some criteria to surrender a license gun during the time of pre-poll election but at such a place where pre-poll violence is likely to occur, the government should let all the gun license holders submit their licence arms in order to avoid any crimes.

Out of the two injured that were admitted at Raj Medicity, who are N Premchandra, father of the deceased and Kh Rakesh, cousin of the deceased; Premchandra has been discharged from the hospital while Rakesh is still undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
