A team of Kakching District Police seized a substantial cache of arms and ammunition concealed in a rice bag on Wednesday.

According to police, a team of Kakching District police commando along with a team of Kakching Police Station conducted a search operation at Wabagai Buffalo Farm under Kakching Police Station in Kakching district from 5 am to 11.15 am.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Kakching District police SP Thokchom Vikramjit and led by District Commando unit OC S Birla under the instruction of Additional SP(ops) Binoi Chongtham.

During the operation, the team discovered a rice bag hidden in a bush and seized one INSAS rifle without magazine, one country made 9mm Pistol along with magazine, three carbine magazine, three .36 Hand Grenade, four live round ammunitions of 9mm, four fired cartridges of INSAS rifle, two tear smoke grenade, four tear smoke shell, ten live round ammunitions of AK rifle, ten Baofeng Handset, BP cover, black leather boot and a rice bag mark as  ‘TOP Myanmar super quality PP Bag’.

A case has been registered at Kakching Police Station for further investigation.
