Thawai Meerel on Saturday alleged that the central and Manipur government are responsible for the “spectral entities” which is tormenting the state at the moment.
The group asserted that it was time to hold those in power accountable for the long drawn crisis and pressure them to air out their failures publicly.
Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal, Thawai Meerel convenor Thongam Dara called upon the public to be wary of the “real enemy” pulling the strings and orchestrating the entire conflict.
“The prime minister, home minister and state legislatures in Manipur are responsible for the long drawn conflict,” he said.
He stated that their deceitful condolences to berieved families were an insult to the people as they are ones responsible for the violence perpetrated by the Kukis.
On the other hand, Dara appealed to people of the state to hoist ‘black flags’ at their respective residence, business establishments and public spaces including personal and public vehicles.
“This momentous occasion marks the implementation of the Constitution of India in 1950 however, India’s inability to safeguard its citizens and properties needs to raised,” he said.
As such, he urged the public to hoist black flags to protest and voice a collective dissent against the centre and state’s failure.
