Tamenglong treasury officer Gaithaorei Amos on Wednesday asserted that sports and education should actively go together to make students and youths achieve great heights in the future.
He was speaking as the chief guest during the inauguration of sports week at Don Bosco Higher Secondary school Tamenglong.
Don Bosco Higher Secondary school Tamenglong kicked off the sports week at their school premises. Tamenglong treasury officer Gaithaorei Amos and Tamenglong SDC Chinghempou Savio attended as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
He further stressed on the importance of games and sports for the students acquiring education.
He emphasises more on the students to focus on whatever they want to become in the future.
Citing an example of some sportspersons including Grace Dangmei from the Zeliangrong community, he added that there is a lot of scope for every young generation even in the field of sports.
He also encouraged all the students to take an active role in the games and sports and also to excel in their studies with great zeal and enthusiasm for becoming someone great in the future.
Unfurling of school flag, lighting of Olympic torch, march past from various house contingents, etc. were some of the main events showcased during the inaugural function of sports week. The guests and parents witnessed different talents during the event.
Later, sports events like tunnel ball, obstacle race, tug- of- war, penalty shootout competition were held among the houses.
