A Special Outreach Health Camp was successfully conducted on Sunday at the Wahengham Leikai Community Hall, Ward No. 8, under the visionary leadership of MLA RK Imo Singh, in partnership with the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Sagolband.
The camp aimed to bring essential healthcare services closer to the community, ensuring better access to medical care for all, Ngangbam Shashikanta Singh, Co-Convenor of Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC) said in a release.
Dr L Joykumar Singh, Chief Medical Officer, expressed his appreciation for the initiative, stating, “The Outreach Health Camp has provided an invaluable opportunity for us to extend vital medical services to the residents of Wahengham Leikai and the people of Ward No. 8. This collaborative effort has enabled us to offer free consultations in various medical fields, including General Medicine, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, and Eye care”, the release said.
The camp went beyond routine consultations, offering free screenings for prevalent health concerns such as Hypertension, Diabetes, Cervical Cancer, and HIV. These screenings are crucial for early detection and prevention of potentially serious health conditions. In addition, a range of blood tests and diagnostics were conducted, providing attendees with comprehensive insights into their health status.
Dr Babina Khomdram, Medical Officer L/C at UPHC Sagolband, stated, “The response from the community has been overwhelming. Approximately 200 patients sought medical attention and consultation during the camp. This speaks volumes about the necessity of such initiatives to bridge the gap between healthcare services and the public,” as per the release.
MLA RK Imo Singh also expressed his commitment to the welfare of the community, stating “Our goal is to ensure that every resident receives the healthcare they deserve. This Outreach Health Camp is just one step towards achieving that vision. We are thankful for the collaboration with UPHC Sagolband and the dedication of the medical professionals who made this camp a resounding success,” as per the release.
The event not only provided essential healthcare services but also raised awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups and early intervention. The collaborative effort of MLA RK Imo Singh and UPHC Sagolband demonstrated their shared commitment to the well-being of the community, Ngangbam Shashikanta Singh stated.
