The solution to the Indo-Naga political peace process must include the whole Naga area or it will never be accepted by the Nagas, General Ningkhan Shimray - MC, VC, Longvibu Naga Army said on Wednesday.
Addressing the ‘People’s Consultative Meeting on Indo-Naga Political Peace Process’ at the Mini Stadium, Apollo ground in Tamenglong district, General Ningkhan Shimray said that the Nagas will never sell their birthrights for a piece of meal and that the solution is for the whole Naga areas.
“Our solution is for the whole Nagas area. We will not accept any other solution if not for the integration of the Nagas”, the Naga leader said.
The general of the Naga Army also said that the Government of India recognizes the uniqueness and the sovereignty of the Nagas and to cover the whole Nagas areas, PAN HOHO came. Five Prime Ministers of India have already said that the Nagas have every right to be independent because of their unique history, he said, adding that the Nagas made it clear that they will never be a part of India even by consent, compress or any forces.
Therefore, understanding the difficulties to co-exist with India, the Framework Agreement was signed, General Shimray said.
“We have made the covenant on May 31, 2022 in the name of the father and the Holy Spirit and before the entire nation and before God that we will never betray the principle and the sovereignty of Framework Agreement,” he said.
He said that the war between Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Hamas (Palestine), South Korea and North Korea is all because one does not recognise the political rights nor history of the other. However, we should praise God that the government of India recognises the uniqueness of Naga history, he said and asked if it was not a big achievement from NSCN (I-M).
“Yes, this is an achievement. But not just for the NSCN (I-M) alone but for the Naga people movement,” he said, adding that the Naga issue is not a law-and-order issue but a political issue.
On the other hand, India also wants to solve this Naga issue because they want a look-east policy to strengthen Indi and for India to become a powerful country, it needs to solve the Framework Agreement, general Shimray said.
Calling on the Nagas to be united and forget villages-ism, Clan-ism, tribalism areas-ism, he said that when an honourable solution is seen, he would want to call and invite everyone to look into God’s words and that the Nagas are once more united and reconciled to each other.
General Ningkhan Shimray also said that it was a historic day and a happy moment for him because Zeliangrong was the land of freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang who fought for the freedom of Nagas from the British.
He was the first freedom fighter of the Nagas; when all Nagas were asleep, he started fighting for the freedom of the Nagas, general Shimray said of Haipou Jadonang.
“Today we salute him and to be in this land is very meaningful for me. I had planned to come here earlier but due to the political situation, the environment was not free to visit Tamenglong. Today is the appointed time for me to visit and I praise God for this opportunity”, he mentioned.
He also thanked the people of Zeliangrong for their support through rallies and prayers in all Zeliangrong areas including Delhi when he was arrested in 2011 on the way from Thailand to Nepal and was in jail for six years. After much demonstration from southern Nagalim and Central Nagalim I was set free, he said, adding that it was the Zeliangrong people who removed the stone of Tihar Jail.
