The Singda Naharol Yaipha Thouni Kanglup (SNYTK), Kadangband has drawn the attention of the Manipur government to prevent any disturbances while conducting land demarcation of 56-Kadangband.

Addressing media at the Manipur Press Club on Tuesday, SNYTK said that they had approached the authorities concerned for settlement of land dispute between 56-Kadangband and its neighbouring village Ileng Naga Village, Kadangband. In accordance to it, a meeting was held on May 13 at office of District Commissioner (DC), Imphal West in the presence of DCs of Imphal West and Kangpokpi, revenue officials and representatives of both villages, wherein a date was fixed for land demarcation from May 24 to May 26, the SNYTK informed.

Representatives of both villages agreed with the decision. But unfortunately, some members of Kangchup Hill Areas Land Protection Committee vehemently opposed land demarcation while officials are trying to do it. The said committee is not the owner of neighbouring village, Ileng Naga Village. Objecting them in the process of land demarcation is none of their business and highly condemnable, he alleged.

“In that meeting we agreed to carry out land demarcation without causing any disturbances. However, some people objecting to this step all of a sudden is very unfortunate. Our intention is just to identify the exact land of 56-Kadangband and not to chase any other non-local community,” he stated.

While drawing the attention of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, who also holds charge of revenue minister, he said that as two more days are left for demarcation of land, the state government should take extra measures to accomplish the decision of land demarcation without fail on stipulated time period.
