The Wildlife Conservation Committee (WCC) on Monday released an endangered slaty-headed parakeet (species of parrot) at Kangla in Imphal as part of its ongoing efforts to protect wildlife.
Speaking on the sidelines, WCC secretary Kshetrimayum Johnson said that the parakeet had been rescued by the WCC team recently from a location in Thoubal district.
He expressed gratitude to the staff of Forest Beat Office in Iroisemba for their support in the release effort. He noted that the endangered parakeets are now inhabited within Kangla and urged the public to support conservation efforts by safeguarding all wildlife.
