Six more candidates file nomination for Manipur polls first phase

With six more candidates filing there nomination for the first phase of election, so far till the filing of this report, 12 candidates have filed their nominations for first phase of election.

Six more filed nominations for the first phase of Manipur Assembly election 202 on Thursday. 

CAFPD Minister Th Satyabrata, who is the BJP candidate of Yaiskul Assembly constituency (AC), along with four candidates filed their nominations in Imphal East.

The other four candidates are NPP candidate of Yaiskul AC Huidrom Vikramjit from Wangkhei Thangjam Leikai; BJP candidate of Lamlai AC Khongbantabam Ibomcha from Nongada Makha Leikai; CPI candidate of Khurai AC RK Amusana Singh from Khurai Sajor Leikai; and INC candidate of Kshetrigao AC Md Amin Shah years from Kshetri Bengoon Awang Leikai.

The nomination paper of Satyabrata was filed by one proposer at the office of the Returning Officer (RO), 14- Yaiskul AC Pooja Elangbam. Nomination of Ibomcha was filed at the office of RO 9-Lamlai AC Surma Thiyam. Amusana filed his nomination at the office of RO 3-Khurai AC Elangbam Amuthoi Khanganba and Amin Shah filed his nomination at the office of the RO 4-Kshetrigao AC Subinson Sapam and he was supported by three proposers.

Meanwhile, independent candidate of Saikul AC Kenn Raikhan of Kangpokpi district also filed his nomination by his proposer at the office of RO 46-(ST) Saikul AC Bhungba Maibam Khuman.

With six more candidates filing there nomination for the first phase of election, so far till the filing of this report, 12 candidates have filed their nominations for first phase of election.

Of the 12, four candidates were from NPP, another four from BJP, one each from INC, JDU and CPI and one independent candidate.

The notification for the first phase of the assembly polls was issued on February 1 and as per the notification nomination papers will be received till February 8 and scrutiny of nomination papers will be taken up on February 9, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be February 11

The notification for the second and final phase was issued on Friday. ECI had scheduled February 27 as the date of poll for first phase which includes 38 ACs and the poll date for second phase was scheduled on March 3 which will include 22 ACs.

According to a reliable source, a full team of the Election Commission of India headed by chief election commissioner Sushil Chandra will be visiting the state on February 7 and will hold a night in Imphal to review the poll preparedness for the ensuing Manipur election.

President of JD-U Manipur Hangkhanpau Taithul also filed his nomination as a JD-U candidate of 60-(ST) Singhat AC of Churachandpur district at the office of RO Singhat AC.
