Calling on the government to show zero tolerance against armed militancy, the Working Committee on Khwairamband Ima Keithel on Friday drew the attention of the Union Home Affairs Ministry to intervene in the affairs of the ethnic unrest and bring an amicable solution for all time. In this regard, the committee had on Thursday submitted a representation to Prime Minister Modi through the email of PMO and through speed post.
Speaking to the media at Khwairamband Ima Keithel No 2, a member of the committee said, the clash which began on May 3, seemingly in the guise of communal conflict, is still continuing and has affected thousands.
Stating that incidents are happening at large particularly at the peripheral areas of the valley, she pointed out that these acts of atrocities are being carried out by groups of people armed with sophisticated weapons and not licensed guns.
Surprisingly, the Central forces deployed nearby, instead of taking any visible action, have remained as a mere spectator, she said.
"It seems that only the valley brethren are under coercion while the Kuki militants behave like a protectorate force carrying out massacre-like actions with sophisticated weapons to the general public," she added.
Their actions are against zero tolerance of militancy policy of the government but no visible action has been taken against them so far, she said, adding that this makes them believe that all these happenings are supported by and in collaboration with the central forces deployed here which they hope is not.
