Several Clubs in Kumbi lament security lapses

Clubs and organisations in Kumbi area have drawn the government's attention to ensure safety of the people amid the unrest in Manipur.

In a letter to the Manipur chief minister, through the deputy commissioner of Bishnupur district,
several clubs and organisations in Kumbi area raised a complaint about the reported security lapses in
the area.

The letter drew attention of the concerned authorities to look after the present scenario. It highlighted
the people's plight in different villages neighbouring Churachandpur district, who have suffered due
to the absence of paramilitary forces.

Since the onset of the crisis in Manipur since May 3, people have been feeling unsafe though
Central Forces have arrived at Kumbi Police Station, the letter mentioned.

The letter was signed by several members, president, secretary of the respective club organisation in
Kumbi area.

The letter narrates that Kuki militants are roaming in and around nearby hills where the whole situation has created an unsecure feeling to the common people to lead a normal life.

It later requested to deploy security force at different areas to ensure people to live safely.
