Seven AMNM members leave for Kolkata

The AMNM members will attend the upcoming National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) National Conference scheduled to be held from December 8 till 10.

A 7-member delegation of the All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM) on Thursday left Imphal for Kolkata to attend the upcoming National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) National Conference scheduled to be held from December 8 till 10.

The delegation led by AMNM president cum NFIW vice president, Th Sakhi included former AMNM president, S Sorojini Devi, assistant secretary, S Bhanu, S Memsana, W Rita Devi, Kh Shila and Kh Radhe, stated a release.

A wide range of discussions including the delay in implementation of the women’s reservation bill seeking 33 per cent of seats in Lok Sabha, state assemblies for women and the prevailing political situation in the country will be held during the conference, it said. Resolutions will also be taken to initiate national-level movement for implementation of the women’s reservation bill, it mentioned.

The Manipur delegation will also present a resolution to discuss the prevailing unrest in the state which has crossed seven months on the national level, it asserted. Various women organisations and associations affiliated with NFIW are expected to attend the conference and present their respective reports, it added.
