Security forces recover huge cache of weapons

Based on specific inputs, regarding movement of armed cadres at night and their likely interference during next days elections, security forces launched an operation on intervening night of March 4 and 5.

Tamenglong Battalion of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) of Spear Corps recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Kahulong village, Tamenglong district on March 5.

Based on specific inputs, regarding movement of armed cadres at night and their likely interference during next days elections, security forces launched an operation on intervening night of March 4 and 5.

Later, a search operation was conducted next day on March 5, which led to the recovery of a huge cache of weapons, ammunition and stores which included 13 pistols of various types, magazines and 11 live rounds.

The recovered arms and ammunition were  handed over to Tamenglong Police Station for further legal action. Locals thanked security forces for their help in the conduct of safe, free and fair elections.

Successful operation was called off after sanitisation of the area. (PIB)
