Security Forces continued the Joint Combing Operations in the hills and valley sectors of Manipur for the second consecutive day on Thursday, stated a release issued by PIB (Defence Wing).
Operations are being conducted by adopting a people friendly approach to include regular announcements to voluntarily surrender illegal arms and ammunition, prior to commencing search of specific areas, it stated.
Presence of magistrates, along with the columns, is being ensured during search operations in non AFSPA areas, it mentioned. Today, 35 weapons (all types), ammunition and other warlike stores are recovered, it added.
Domination of NH-37 continues to ensure incident free movement of essential goods to and from Manipur, as a part of the ongoing operations, it stated.
Sustained Confidence Building Measures, People Centric Approach and Initiating Measures to alleviate the hardships are the lines on which security forces are relentlessly working to ensure de-escalation of tensions and early return of normalcy, it stated.
During the conduct of combing operations, adequate measures are being undertaken to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the local population, it added.
