MLA Thangmeiband assembly constituency Kh Joykisan on Monday questioned why the security advisor is unable to stop the prevailing unrest for the last five months, while a team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) could arrest suspects in connection with the killing of two students in just a matter of three-four days.

MLA Joykisan, while celebrating 154th Gandhi Jayanti at a relief camp opened by TAKDO, Khoyathong, Imphal West on Monday, said that people are still suffering from the present turmoil due to ineffectiveness of security advisor Kuldiep Singh who is the unified command of law-and-order in Manipur.

The people had been already saying that the two students could be traced from Joujangtek area but no clues could be found.

However, after some photographs of the two missing students went viral on September 27, the union home minister deputed a team of CBI and the team arrested four suspects in connection with the murder case on Sunday, he said.

“If the CBI team can arrest suspects involved in the case of two students within a few days, then why is the security advisor unable to stop violence in the state for the last five months? he questioned.

He alleged that Kuldiep Singh is not interested in bringing peace in Manipur, and due to his incompetence as the unified command of law and order of Manipur, the state is still burning.
When he was deputed as unified command of Manipur by the union home minister, he was advised to remain a silent spectator on the gunfights that have been occurring in the peripheral areas, Joykisan alleged.

“I am a representative of the people, and people are questioning what constructive steps have been taken up under his command. We do not need such an ineffective security advisor who is not interested in bringing peace to Manipur,” Joykisan asserted.

The MLAs of the ruling government were instructed to remain silent till the end of the G20 events but after the G20, many students were brutally assaulted by security forces, even some of them sustained bullet injuries, he said. Who gave the command to initiate the action against the students, he questioned, adding that Kuldiep Singh should clarify to the public, said Joykisan.

Besides, NIA has arrested a prime accused in a case related to transnational conspiracy by Myanmar and Bangladesh based leadership of terror outfits to wage war against the Indian Union by exploiting the current ethnic unrest in Manipur, he added.

He urged the authority concerned to investigate more to find out the culprits involved in instigating the crisis.

Moreover, with the swift action CBI, four accused have been arrested and he urged the CBI team to find out the bodies of the two students as the members of the bereaved families will not rest till the bodies are found.

To encourage the CBI team, the MLA announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for finding the two missing bodies.
