Cordon and search operations were conducted at different areas of Imphal East and West area on Tuesday, as a part of precautionary measures taken in connection with the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
A team of district commando, Imphal West conducted a search operation at Dharmasala of Thangal Bazaar, covering Kasturi crossing, Yaima Store stretch and Alu Gali from 4.30 pm to 5 pm.

During the search operation around 125 individuals were detained for verification. Among them, eight individuals who failed to produce any identification documents were taken to the City police station for further verification.
Meanwhile, similar search operations were also conducted by a team of district commando, Imphal East in Mahabali area.
The search operation was conducted from 4.45pm to 6 pm and during the activity, around 178 persons were detained for verification and they were later released.
