A ‘Scientific Awareness Creation cum Exhibition among SC/ST School Students through Exhibition on Local Innovation in Science and Technology’ was organised by Rural Economic Development Foundation (REDF), Dolaithabi at Brighter English School, Dolaithabi, Imphal East on Saturday.
In a release, REDF stated that the awareness cum exhibition programme was organised under the aegis of National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) Division, department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, along with the enthusiastic support of the authorities of the Brighter English School, Dolaithabi Imphal East.
The awareness programme to encourage the students in the study of maths, and science and technology, which will be conducted at different schools at Imphal East and Kangpokpi district, began on Friday at the Brighter English School, Dolaithabi, it added.
The event was attended by guest lecturer of department of Earth Science, Manipur University Sanasam Subhamenon Singh as the chief guest, assistant professor of department of Geology, Pravabti College H Sanatomba Singh as the guest of honour, Brighter English School principal Ch Satyabarta Singh as the president and St Joseph Hr Sec School, Sangaiprou physics post graduate trained teacher (PGT) Mayengbam Bishworjit Singh as the resource person, it mentioned.
Speaking on the occasion, resource person Mayengbam Bishworjit Singh emphasised on the importance of maths and conducted an interactive session with the students, it stated.
Chief guest Sanasam Subhamenon Singh talked on the influence of science in our daily lives, while guest of honour H Sanatomba Singh narrated the interesting biographies of influential scientists and highlighted the responsibilities and achievements of scientists in the modern civilisation, it continued.
It further stated that as part of the event, ‘science painting competition’ followed by quiz competition was also organised. The school fees clearance of three months, two months and one month were awarded to the students who secured the first, second and third position in the painting competition respectively.
In the science exhibition held to encourage the students’ interest in science and technology, the students prepared and exhibited their homemade science models, it stated.
REDF will continue organising the programme at different schools in Imphal East and Kangpokpi district, it stated. The school authorities interested for such programmes to be organised in their schools may contact REDF, it added.
