Leimarol Khorjeikol (LEIKOL), Imphal on Sunday felicitated Koijam Shantibala who was conferred with the prestigious literary award, the Sahitya Akademi Award 2023 at LEIKOL office at Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai in Imphal West.
At the event, LEIKOL president Khsetrimayum Subadani who attended the event as the president commended Koijam Shantibala who received the Sahitya Akademi Award 2023 for her poem book entitled ‘Ironnung’ 2018. Her achievement is an inspiring feat for all the women of Manipur, she added.
She recalled that LEIKOL, which was founded by MK Binodini, was the first ever women-only literary organisation.
Koijam Shantibala conveyed appreciation for receiving the Sahitya Akademi Award 2023 and said that receiving the award felt like her hard work had paid off. She recalled the hardships she faced during her journey as a literary enthusiast and extended acknowledgement to LEIKOL for their support.
At the event, Lamyanba Organisation, Tripura secretary and LEIKOL life member Kshetrimayum Madhabi was also welcomed. Many prominent writers including Nahakpam Aruna, Chingtham Subadani, Wahengbam Kumari, Maya Nepram and Ng Ekadhini were also present.
