Road accident claims one life in Imphal West

A pillion rider from Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak died, while the driver of the scooter was critically injured after being hit by car

One died and another suffered injury in a road accident near Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal West on Wednesday, sources said

According to the police, a 35-year-old male who was riding pillion on a scooter succumbed to his injuries while the driver remains in a critical condition after they were hit by a car near Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, under Singjamei Police station in Imphal West on Wednesday.

The accident occurred around 11.40 pm along Tiddim Road when they were coming towards the north on their scooter (Honda Dio- MN01AE/6520). They were reportedly hit from behind by a four wheeler (Bolero), the sources said.

The deceased has been identified as one Kenedy Khuraijam, 35, son of (L) Kulachandra from Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak. After being admitted to RIMS, he succumbed to his injuries around 2.32 am on Thursday. The scooter has been severely damaged in the accident, the police said. 

Singjamei Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident. The body has been handed over to family members after conducting a post mortem at RIMS Mortuary on Thursday.
