Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPPC) on Monday alleged Union Minister of State for External Affairs RK Ranjan of being a two-faced MP and contradicting his own statement on the boundary issue.

Reacting to the statement of RK Ranjan who blamed the Congress party for the border issue of Manipur during a “Gao Gao Chatlo, Ghar Ghar Chatlo” campaign held on Sunday at Sambei in Imphal East, a press conference was held at Congress Bhawan in Imphal.

Addressing the press, MPCC vice president Hareshwar Goswami said it is unfortunate that the Union MoS is falsely alleging Congress for the state boundary issue, instead of taking up any initiative to resolve the dispute in the past three years.

He highlighted that Ranjan had already pointed out about the loss of Manipur land in areas falling between border pillar no. 64 to 68 in an edition of a journal “Regional Integration” published in 1982, besides writing an article on the boundary dispute in a booklet “Manipur Nation” published in 2003.

“When he has a good knowledge on the border issue, why is he blaming the Congress and why has he not taken up any single step to settle the dispute when he is in power since the last three year,” questioned the vice-president.

Goswami clarified that the then Congress government stopped the border fencing works as per the wishes of the people of Manipur in 2013, but the fencing work resumed since the inception of the BJP government in 2017 till date.

“Such move is the clear testimony of the difference of attitude and looks towards Manipur by the BJP and Congress,” he added.

Further alleging that Ranjan is a man who has been punished by a proscribed group for indulging in corruption when he was the registrar of MU in 2004, the vice-president said, “Ranjan is playing with the sentiment of the people of Manipur by being a two-faced MP on border issues”.

Vice president of MPCC, Tilotama Devi, also alleged the BJP as a government for the corporate who imposed dictatorship to suppress democracy.

As a consequence, she predicted that the country will be facing a big bankruptcy within a few days. “India is now facing an undeclared emergency,” she said, adding that the upcoming 2024 election is the time for the public to teach BJP a lesson.
