Naga People’s Front (NPF) leader Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu questioned the Government of India for the long delay in resolving the decades’ old Naga political issue and demanded its resolution before Christmas.
Azo, who is also the Leader of the NPF Legislature Party, was speaking at the 52nd Phek Basa Sports meet.
The NPF leader, however, demanded that the government should “bring out the common draft and place it before the public domain for the consensus of the public opinion”.
Azo then said that the NPF is committed towards bringing a final solution to the Naga political issue “which is honourable, acceptable and inclusive”.
He further said that the priority of the party is for solution and not election.
Azo then said that NPF is not a party that is “after power or position but stands for the cause of the Naga people and the welfare of the Naga people as its priority”. He then maintained that NPF has joined the UDA government not for any other reason but to have a collective effort of all the legislators for early settlement of the Naga political issue.
The NPF Legislature party leader then said that its MLAs are ready to pave a way if any solution comes. However, he said if the Election Commission of India announces elections then the NPF will have no option but to contest the election.
The NPF leader then expressed optimism that the party will form the next government. He claimed the party, “which represents the Naga people”, is gaining its stand with time.
Azo Nienu then urged the BJP-led Central government to be faithful with its election slogan, ‘election for solution’, adding that the BJP should live up to to its commitment.
