The CCIAN Forum Peace Committee on Monday provided necessary relief materials to village volunteers of Naranseina, lending support and assistance to the affected victims of the prevailing conflict.
Handing over the items to the village volunteers at Naransiena maning leikai, CCIAN Forum Peace Committee convenor Angomcha Chingkhei condemned the continuous unprovoked attacks by Kuki militants against the Meitei/Meeteis and urged every Meitei/Meetei household to make budgets to facilitate those in the frontline.
He pointed out that the Kukis with adequate income allegedly earned from poppy cultivation are able to acquire sophisticated weapons to attack the Meiteis. He lamented over the frequent attacks by armed Kuki militants against the Meitei farmers and asserted that unity is needed more than ever to combat the attacks.
He maintained that those on the frontline are the ones fighting the militants’ attack and said that donations from the people are needed.
Chingkhei alleged that the Central government has not taken any action plan to curb poppy plantations in the state despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to establish drug-free India by 2048. However, in Manipur, the Kukis are carrying out poppy plantations feely and at their whims, he added.
Members of CCIAN Forum Peace Committee also took part in the visit to the village.
