Relief camp inmates get training on mushroom cultivation

Mushroom cultivation was taught to inmates of a relief camp in an effort to empower them with livelihood skills.

A two-day training programme on cultivation of mushroom was held at a relief camp set up at trade and expo centre Lamboikhongnakhong on Sunday-Monday, sources said.

During the training programme, organised by the Rama Foundation, resource person Soram Rajendra Kumar, regional achiever awardee, delivered a talk on scientific methods of mushroom cultivation, diseases, poisonous mushrooms, marketing and financial assistance etc, a release stated.

The objective of our initiative is to empower individuals in the relief camps with valuable skills that can improve their quality of life and help them become more self-reliant, the release added.

At the end of the training programme on Monday, necessary materials to cultivate mushrooms including the spawn, were distributed and a farm visit was also included, the foundation said.
