Reinstate old pension scheme: Manipur Government Services Federation

A joint meeting of central and state government employees will be convened on May 6 to adopt a resolution in this regard and strike notice will be issued subsequently, secretary of the federation L Purojit said.

Manipur Government Services Federation has rolled up its sleeves to launch a stir over demand to reinstitute the old pension scheme as it announced to issue a strike notice on Sunday.   

Secretary of the federation L Purojit, while speaking at May Day celebration held on Sunday at DIPR auditorium, said that the federation will mount pressure on the government to reinstate the old pension scheme and do away with the new pension scheme as enlisted in the May Day manifesto.

He further said that a joint meeting of central and state government employees will be convened on May 6 to adopt a resolution in this regard and strike notice will be issued subsequently.

Speaking on the occasion, secretary of Centre of Indian Trade Unions, Kshetrimayum Santa recounted the beginning of May Day celebration in the state through the initiative of Hijam Irabot in 1939.

Federation president M Rajendro; treasurer, Indubala Devi; general secretary of Manipur Secretariat Services Association Robi among others also attended the observance.
