Rehabilitation inmate dies

The 46-year-old man who was admitted at Re-Union Foundation, a rehabilitation centre in Bishnupur district, died after reportedly feeling unwell on Friday.

A 46-year-old man who was admitted at Re-Union Foundation, a rehabilitation centre located at Ningthoukhong Shantipur under Loktak Police Station in Bishnupur district died after reportedly feeling unwell on Friday. 

The deceased has been identified as one Thokchom Okendro ,46, son of Th Kaoba from Kongba Uchekkon in Imphal East district.

According to police, Th Okendro complained of not feeling well and he was taken to District Hospital for treatment around 11.50 am on Friday. However, the doctors declared that he was brought dead at 12.15 pm, as per police.  

Loktak Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident.  After the magistrate carried out an inquest upon the body, a post mortem including a video recording was carried out at RIMS Mortuary, following which the body was handed over to the family members. 

According to sources, late Th Okendro is married and has a son and a daughter. He liked to drink but was not addicted to alcohol, according to family members.

After he requested to stay at a rehabilitation centre for some time, he was taken and admitted to Re-Union Foundation on April 10 by their workers, they said.
