Stating that the real strength of a person is defined by his or her will power and not by physical strength, Thanga MLA T Robindro encouraged persons with disbalities (PwD) to never give up on pursuing any challenges.
Robindro was speaking during a distribution of aids and appliances to the specially-abled persons of Bishnupur district as a continuation of Sewa Pakhwada (a fortnight for service) which was assisted by District Social Welfare Officer, Bishnupur at Kairenphabi Community Hall in Bishnupur district.
Informing that the government has created numerous welfare schemes dedicated to PwD, Robindro apprised all the PwD to take the benefits of those schemes and asked the Karyakatas of BJP and officials to make the public aware of those schemes.
Stating that the term "disable" is not suitable for describing a physically challenged person, he said that they should be termed "specially-abled" as they are not less than any other physically fit persons in every aspect.
Lauding PM Narendra Modi for initiating the service fortnight programme instead of celebrating his birthday with cakes, he said it is his ideology of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayaas" which is leading the whole country into an egalitarian society.
As many as 87 individuals received the aids and appliances which included 14 smartphones, 18 wheelchairs, two tricycles, 14 smart canes, eight hearing aids, 35 braille kits, 16 crutch elbows, eight crutch axilla among others.
The function was also attended by Works Minister, Govindas Konthoujam, and BJP Manipur president, A Sarda, among others.
