Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has announced that the birth anniversary of Rani Gaidinliu will be observed as a state function from the coming year 2024.
The chief minister made the announcement during the 108th birth anniversary of the freedom fighter, Ranima Gaidinliu, which was commemorated on Thursday at Rani Gaidinliu Park at Mantripukhri in Imphal by the Ranima Birth Anniversary Organising Committee, 2023.
Floral tributes to the memorial statue of the late freedom fighter, led by Governor La Ganesan and CM N Biren Singh, marked the opening ceremony of the observance.
In recognition of Ranima's role in the fight against British imperialism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken up numerous steps to propagate her name and fame, CM Biren said.

The chief minister also called upon the people of the state to support the government in moving ahead towards development.
Various cultural dances were performed by different troupes as a part of the commemoration programme.
Meanwhile, the Kabui Mothers’ Association also submitted a memorandum to the chief minister seeking his intervention in the development of the Rani Gaidinliu Park. The programme was also attended by ministers, MLAs, CSOs leaders among others.
