The Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM) has decried the alleged non-payment of land compensation in connection with the construction work of Northeast Frontier Railway Safety Tunnel-12 at Khongsang (Sangrung) village.
A compensation amount of Rs 5,91,90,062 was deposited with deputy commissioner of Tamenglong district vide RTGS on November 23, 2020, the RNYOM stated in a release.
The RNYOM stated that the district administration under the stewardship of DC Tamenglong/Noney should be held responsible for the delay in releasing the fund deposited by the Northeast Frontier Railway.
It further stated that the construction work has been going on and off in the last year due to the problem arising out of the discrimination against the land owners who deserved due compensation for their land.
The state government in general and the district authority in particular should come out clear about the delay in releasing the said fund which has been already deposited by the Northeast Frontier Railway, it further stated, adding, “Justice delayed is justice denied.”
The RNYOM demanded the state authority to pull up the district authority for the mischief and discrimination of the rightful Khongsang villagers NH-37 under Noney district.
Urging the government to pay the said compensation within seven days, it stated that the government shall be held responsible for any unwanted consequences if the demand is not fulfilled.
Different democratic forms of agitations will be carried out by the organisation in the interest of the public in general, it stated. Bandh on National Highway -37 in protest against the intentional delay of payment will also be imposed, it added.
