All India Congress Committee (AICC) leader Rahul Gandhi arrived at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal on Thursday for a two-day assessment of the prevailing situation in the state.

Party sources said that Rahul Gandhi planned to interact with various stakeholders during his visit and get a firsthand understanding of the ground situation and spread the message of peace in the violence-hit Manipur. He is also scheduled to visit different relief camps in Imphal, Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts.
Besides the visit to relief camps, the Congress party leader is expected to hold meetings with representatives of different communities during his two-day visit to the state.
According to Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra, due to time constraints, Rahul Gandhi would not be visiting Moreh and Kangpokpi, but planned to meet the displaced people from Moreh at the relief camps in Imphal. His visit is to empathise with the people of Manipur, particularly those who have been displaced and convey a message of peace, the MPCC president added.
