The Coordinating Committee against the action of Chin Kuki Narco Terrorists and Illegal Immigrants on Thursday informed that a public meeting would be held at Pishum Hao ground on October 7 to tilt the demand on the state government to materialise the defence minister’s assurance to destroy poppy plantation using the IAF.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club, committee co-convenor Maibam Benubala stressed on the need for people to move in on the assurance of the defence minister and mount pressure on the state government.
“The assurance was given in a meeting with Thounaojam Maheshwar on October 3. As such, the people need to put pressure on state authorities to materialise Rajnath’s assurance,” she said.
She informed that an invitation for the meeting would also be extended to Maheshwar Thounaojam and sought the support of the people in making the meeting successful.
“We need to thoroughly discuss the matter before this season’s poppy is harvested in Manipur,” she added.
