The Joint Tribe council (JTC) of Zeme Naga Council, Rongmei Naga Council, Liangmai Naga Council and Inpui Union held a public leaders’ consultative meeting at United Baptist Church (Liangmai) Tamenglong concerning the prevailing situation in the state on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Joint Tribe Council convenor GN Aku stated that the meeting deliberated with the people of Tamenglong concerning the present situation of the state and discussed the importance of maintaining peace and understanding among all communities.
He said there should be no room for confusion and enmity among Zeliangrong people and no one should mislead the community with biassed and false information. He also urged all to maintain neutrality among different communities during the ethnic violence.
He also informed that the JTC will ensure protection of the land and inhabitants of Zeliangrong Inpui at any cost. Hundreds of people from different walks of life, including village authority members, Joint Tribe women wings, youth wing etc. attended the meeting.
It may be mentioned that the joint tribe council had also organised public leaders consultative meetings at Noney and Khoupum area in the past week with an aim to raise awareness of the present situation in Manipur and to maintain neutrality among different communities of the state.
