Condemning the demand for a 'separate administration' by 10 Kuki MLAs, the United Youths Club, Khangabok part (II) has reiterated the public demand to register FIR against the MLAs.

Club publicity secretary Khundrakpam Roshan on Sunday reiterated the public demand to register FIR against the 10 Kuki MLAs, during a protest demonstration at UYC Khangabok ground organised by club members and meira paibis of the locality.

He urged the state government to convene an Assembly session to discuss the prevailing issue and chalk out necessary measures to restore normalcy in the state at the earliest. He also demanded the withdrawal of the SoO truce with the Kuki militants without delay.

He maintained that people of the locality have been providing necessary assistance to the affected and displaced victims of the conflict staying at various relief camps and further assured to continue the same.

Taking part in the sit-in, meira paibi secretary Laishram Romita expressed dissatisfaction over the alleged failure of the central and state governments to tackle the prevailing conflict even when it has crossed two months.

She asserted that the worsening situation in the state indicates that the centre has no regard for the state and the people.

It is unfortunate that Chief Minister N Biren failed to find ways to discuss remedies for resolving the issue with the prime minister ever since the conflict broke out, Romita said.

She added that people of the state might be compelled to revolt for a separate Manipur if the government continued to ignore the situation. She further urged the government to consider the public interest and take necessary actions at the earliest.

Protesters displayed various placards which read ‘implement NRC in Manipur’, ‘withdraw SoO agreement with Kuki militants’ etc. during the sit-in. Renowned economist Chinglen Maisnam was also among those who took part in the protest.
