A sit-in protest against the arrest of one Aktar Hussain in connection with the death of Mayonmi Ningsen was organised by Sacrifice Youth Development Organisation Yairipok Tulihal near Yairipok Tulihal Azad Higher Secondary School on Tuesday.
The protesters demanded the unconditional release of Akter Hussain by August 25. The protesters also threatened to form a JAC and commence strong protests if the authorities ignored their demands.
One Aisha Ahamed, a protester condemned the “unjust arrest” of Akter Hussain, 49, son of late Md Basiruddin from near Yairipok Tulihal Azad Higher Secondary School on August 16. “Akter is a simple family man and he also volunteered in the search for the late Mayonmi Ningsen,” she added.

“The police summoned Akter for simple questioning on August 16 and later filed an FIR against him without any reason,” she said. Demanding the unconditional release of Akter Hussain by August 25, she added that the people will form a JAC and commence strong protests with the help of CSOs and other organisations if their demand is ignored.
The protesters shouted slogans such as ‘Release innocent people’, ‘Don’t frame charges on innocent people’ and ‘Release Akter Hussain by August 25’ etc.
