Demanding unconditional release of four volunteers from the Youth of Manipur (YOM) who were recently apprehended by police, a demonstration was held at Kamong on Wednesday.
Organised by the Kamong Apunba Meira Paiba, the protest drew attention to the volunteers’ efforts in the ongoing crisis in Manipur, emphasising their commitment to the region.
Protestors wielded placards reading, “We condemn the arrest of students” and “Four volunteers of YOM should be released immediately,” expressing solidarity and anger over the arrests.
Speaking to the media, the advisor of Kamong Meira Paibi Meisnam Sakhi stated that the arrested individuals are not just ordinary citizens, they have come forward to save Manipur.
Stating that they should be released by Thursday, she warned that if the volunteers are not released unconditionally, the agitation would intensify, rallying support from the wider community in Manipur.
