The Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup (SANULAL) on Thursday expressed suspicion that "narco-terrorists" are attempting to encroach the agricultural lands and urged the government to take necessary actions to protect the agricultural lands from the militants.
SANULAL, in a release, noted the persistent attacks carried out by armed militants in the fringe areas, terrorising villagers and farmers.
The Lup reflected on the chief minister’s statement against land encroachment and illegal land encroachers and demanded swift action against the militants attempting to seize the agricultural lands in the valley areas.
There are over 2,000 hectares of agricultural land which remain unguarded owing to the prevailing situation, it pointed out.
It condemned the alleged failure of the 10,000 central forces deployed in the state in protecting the people and their properties, especially those in the fringe areas.
It also urged law enforcement agencies to take appropriate effective actions against the narco-terrorists. It further called upon the people of the state to remain steadfast and unite voices to combat terrorism and save the state’s integrity.
