A source said that the unfortunate incident took place on Wednesday in Tengnoupal district. The accused has been identified as one Joseph Charanga and he has been arrested by the police.

After the incident came to light, people from the victim’s locality thrashed Joseph Charanga. Later, a joint team from Childline Chandel and the police arrived and took the culprit to Tengnoupal Police Station.

The police have also registered a case against Joseph Charanga under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim was also produced before the Child Welfare Committee, Tengnoupal district and mandatory medical examinations have begun, the source added.
