Y Susindro Meitei, MLA Khurai assembly constituency, has claimed that rice meant to be distributed to the people of Khurai was deducted from the godown by the outlawed group PREPAK (Pro), leading to inadequacy in distribution of rice under National Food Security Act (NFSA).

He was addressing the media after filing his nomination paper to the returning officer of Khurai assembly constituency at DC complex, Imphal East district on Saturday. He said that not only in Khurai, all the assembly constituencies are facing the same issue on distribution of rice under NFSA.

Propaganda are being spread in social media that the beneficiaries for Khurai assembly constituency received inadequate quantities of rice as they were deducted by the local MLA, he said. In truth, underground group PREPAK (Pro) deducted the rice at godown, he added.

“The said group deducted 1 kg of rice from the beneficiaries who are allotted 5 kg of rice while 10 kg of rice are deducted from the beneficiaries who are allotted 35 kg of rice. The remaining is made available to the fair price shop for the public,” he added.

He further appealed to the group to clarify to the public whether they deducted the rice or not as the issue is going to mislead the public.

Susindro further said that for the Khurai assembly constituency there are no competent candidates to take part in the contest. He is the second candidate to file nomination papers for the assembly constituency so far, he added.
