Tamenglong district administration in collaboration of District Programme Officer and OCDS Cell Tamenglong on Friday launched "Poshan Pakhwada" at the conference hall of Zeliangrong Evangelistic Fellowship (ZEF) in the district headquarters under the theme "Nutritional value of millets".
Tamenglong subdivisional officer M Imosana Singh, Zonal Education officer Tamenglong N Abonpou Christopher and DPO, ICDS Cell, Tamenglong M Sobha Devi attended the launching programme as chief guest, guest of honour and president of the function respectively.
Addressing the programme as the chief guest, Tamenglong SDO M Imosana Singh said millets are very nutritious and knowing the importance of millets for human beings, particularly for children, the government is trying to promote and focus on the importance of millets.
He also urged the people to participate actively in the programme and implement government schemes from the grassroots level and cover all the villages.
Also speaking as the guest of honour, N Abonpou Christopher urged all anganwadi workers to implement all government schemes for women and children.
He said if a woman is healthy, she gives to a healthy child and a healthy child will build a healthy society and strong nation.
District Project officer, ICDS Cell, Tamenglong displayed nutritional fresh vegetables and fruits as part of the programme. After the formal launching programme a rally was staged to give wide awareness on the importance of nutritional food for human beings.
