INC candidate Angomcha Bimol Akoijam asserted that the political future of Manipur rests on the profound zeal and determination of youths in the state.
"A state with crumbling cultural values and staggering demographic tilt will drown if proper affirmative actions are not met swiftly," he said.
He was speaking at the youth interaction programme on 'Role of Youth in Manipur' held at his residence on Monday.
He stated that a drastic intellectual shift in all universities of Manipur and across the country was the key ingredient to usher ideal political consciousness for posterity.
Youths must take initiative to reshape the political landscape of Manipur, he added.
He pointed out that the ensuing election was one of the pivotal moments in the history of Manipur and as such, he urged the people to assess the gravity of the situation in Manipur.
Meanwhile, one of the youth at the programme Loyangamba Sapam highlighted the role of Bimol Akoijam in rectifying misleading narratives spewed during the conflict.
"The interaction programme is not an attempt to garner young voters but rather an initiative to awaken political consciousness," he said.
He exuded confidence that Bimol would be able to highlight Manipur issues at the parliament and also partake in broader discussions.
