The villagers, primarily Meitei, are facing dire challenges as they are unable to cultivate their fields because of ongoing conflict in Manipur and the region’s classification as a “Red Zone.”

During his visit, Kangleipal donated one rice bag and other essential items to each affected family. He promised to continue offering support every two months to help alleviate the hardship faced by these displaced families.

The visit marked one of the few instances of outside attention to the village since the violence intensified, highlighting the urgent need for assistance.

“The situation is dire, with many homes remaining deserted, and the ongoing restrictions are isolating these communities further,” Kangleipal stated. “Parts of ten constituencies in Manipur are now classified as ‘Red Zones,’ and access to villages like Thamnapokpi is severely restricted. This isolation has only worsened the socioeconomic difficulties of the residents.”

Kangleipal also called on elected representatives to urgently address the grievances of the affected villagers, urging them to take steps to ease the suffering of these communities.
