As Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally broke his silence on Manipur only after a viral video surfaced over 75 days of the violence in the state, the Keishamthong Apunba Ima Lup on Saturday stated that the head of the country must comment on the other issues of the state too and not just on the video.

Lup president Soraisam Shanti Leima, addressing the office at the lup’s office located at Keishamthong Longjam leikai, Imphal West, said that the people across the state strongly condemned the inhuman act, but the Centre should also comment on the whole crisis of the state where over 100 have been killed.

She said the PM's first speech on the Manipur issue after over 75 days of silence in relation to the viral video by sidelining other incidents indicates that the Government of India intentionally wants to defame the Meitei community in the world.

She claimed that many Meitei people were burnt alive and killed at different locations during the crisis. However, no comment was made by the prime minister. If the PM has commented on the naked parade issue, then he should also comment on other incidents that have been occurring since May 3, she added.

Alleging the eruption of the crisis started when Kuki militants violated the ground rules of SoO, she stated that the central government should not remain one-sided, but that it should take both sides.

Meanwhile, the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) has conducted spot enquiry regarding the naked parade incident and chairperson of the commission, Salam Ulka said the commission will try at its level best to punish the culprits.
