The Manipur People’s Party (MPP) on Thursday lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ‘almost three-months late’ response to the prevailing conflict in the state, asserting that it was bemusing as there was no response from him on the issue all this time.

The MPP also vehemently condemned the disturbing inhumane viral video of 2 women paraded naked and demanded the authorities concerned to book the culprits involved and award them befitting punishments at the earliest, stated a release. Such deliberate abuse and assault is a violation of human rights, it stated.

It lamented that the Prime Minister chose to break his silence only after seeing the viral video and condemned him for allegedly placing the entire blame for the ongoing conflict on one particular community based on the viral video.

It highlighted the atrocities and torture by central security forces to the people of the state especially the womenfolk for long and maintained that those involved in such crimes have not been arrested nor given legal punishments till now.

It maintained that the root cause of the conflict is caused by Kuki militants and illegal immigrants who deliberately attacked and killed the indigenous Meitei people using sophisticated weapons and destroyed their houses and properties. MPP also reaffirmed their commitment to protect the state’s integrity at all costs, it stated.

Meanwhile, Langsai Thouna on Thursday condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late reaction to the prevailing unrest in the state after noticing the viral video and questioned the PM’s motive to break his silence only now when he allegedly ignored the plights and the sufferings of the people all this time.

Condemning the inhuman video, Langsai Thouna, in a release, also pointed out that the video reportedly went viral two months back when the conflict broke out in the state, when Kukis attacked the Meeteis at Churachandpur and destroyed their properties. The association however further said that it will not tolerate any inhumane activities carried out to any community, it mentioned.

It also expressed discontentment over the alleged failure of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren to take necessary actions against the armed Kuki militants and central forces allegedly aiding and abetting the militants till date.
