Peace and Integrity Committee Kyamgei (PICK) on Wednesday demanded the state and central government to classify the Kuki militant groups along with CoTU and ITLF as ‘terrorist organisations’ for their continued criminal activities against the state.
PICK also cautioned authorities concerned that an uprising of the people similar to June 18 would be inevitable if they continued to disregard the crisis any longer.
Speaking to the media at Khagemba Macha Ebungo Laibung, Kyamgei, PICK convenor Chingakham Meghachandra condemned the silence of the central government in connection to the torture and murder of six hostages including three children.
“Instead of framing special packages for displaced individuals, they’ve reimposed AFSPA adding another tension amid the turmoil. Placing the people under shackles for fighting against drugs and illegal immigration is highly unconstitutional,” he said.
As such, he called for military crackdown on the militants who have terrorised innocent people including women, children and farmers for their vested agenda of seperate administration.
He also condemned the reckless remarks of P Chidambaram which hinted at the disintegration of Manipur and demanded MPCC leaders to resolve the matter from passing on.
Meanwhile, joint secretary of All Kyamgei Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup Hemam Leibaklei urged all civil bodies and people to unite under one command instead of protesting in seperate groups.
“The matter will not be resolved if we continue to spread out. Unity is the only weapon to put an end to the issue,” she said.
As such, she urged all civil bodies to set aside their personal interests and strive collectively to protect Manipur.
