Curfew has been relaxed in Pherzawl district, Manipur, as there were no reported cases of violence and the district remained "calm and peaceful," official sources said.
The district administration, Pherzawl, stated in an order issued on Monday that the curfew enforced in the district since May 3 has been relaxed from sunrise to sunset in view of the prevailing law and order situation in the district.
The administration mentioned that it has been closely monitoring the ground situation, and there
were no reported cases of violence, and the situation in the district remained calm and peaceful.
Curfew was enforced in Pherzawl and 10 other districts of the state following the unprecedented violence that broke out between the Meitei and the Kuki communities in these districts on May 3-4.
The ethnic violence claimed over 70 innocent lives, according to official figures, and caused massive damage to properties, including residential houses, shops and places of worship. Thousands of people have been rendered homeless and displaced.
