Manipur Governor La Ganesan on Friday said the government recognising Ayurveda is not enough, all people should recognise its importance.
Ganesan was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Ayurveda Parv’, a three-day Ayurveda Parva-Manipur at City Convention Centre in Imphal. It is organized by Vinoba Seba Pratishtha, AYUSH (GOI) and support groups.
He said that the concepts and principles of Ayurveda put emphasis on holistic development of people. He said that it is considered to be the most effective way to treat a wide range of ailments and live a healthy lifestyle.
The primary objective of Ayurveda is to seek a balance between body, mind and spirit, he said. Ayurveda recognises three fundamental forms of subtle energy as ‘vasta, pitta and kapha’. These principles are present in every person but can be different in levels as per the basic biology of their body, he said.
He continued that Ayurveda guides the people regarding their food and lifestyles so that they can stay healthy. Ayurveda is believed to be the oldest healing system that originated in India from the ancient Vedic times. The traditional system has been practiced by scholars and disciples for over 5,000 years, he added.
He mentioned that the Ayurvedic system of treatment and medicine has widely been practiced in Kerala which is encouraging and all should follow this system throughout India.
Ayurveda is ancient but recognised by the government only eight years ago. However, the people must recognise that Ayurveda not only treats a patient but also prevents all disease, he added.
Services like free doctor’s consultation, free medicine, free yoga training and Ayush exhibition will be available in the mela which is being organised by the Vinoba Seva Pratisthan under the sponsorship of Ministry of AYUSH, government of India.
Central Council of Research in Ayurveda Sciences, professor Rabinarayan Acharya spoke on the importance of Ayurveda for a healthy living and urged people to be aware of the benefits of Ayurveda in maintaining a disease-free healthy society.
MLA Thangjam Arunkumar; professor N Rajmuhon Singh, VC, DM University and A Guneshwor Sharma, director of AYUSH and students attended the inaugural session.
