Peace Poster Contest: 'Let us keep peace and give it a chance'

Thirty students of class VI to VIII from different schools took part in a peace poster painting competition on the theme, ‘World Peace Lead with Compassion’ in Thoubal.

The Lions Club of Wangjing district 322D organised a peace poster painting competition on the theme, ‘World Peace Lead with Compassion’ at the premises of Progressive English School Lamding, Thoubal district Tuesday.

At least 30 students who are reading in class VI to VIII from different schools took part in the competition.

“It would not be possible for human beings to survive in the long run without peace. Let us keep peace and give it a chance,” said Lions Club of Wangjing secretary Langpoklakpam Romen Meitei on the sidelines of the competition.

He added that they were organising the painting competition with the theme of peace so that the children could realise its importance.

In the competition, Artina Chingtham, class VIII, Khongjom Standard English School, Khongjom bagged first position while Seleibam Luhenba Singh, class VI and Ngangom Bony, class VII, both from Progressive English School Lamding stood second and  third position respectively.

Later, cash prizes with a citation each were also distributed. The first prize consists of an amount of Rs 1500, second  Rs 1000 and third Rs 500.
