A peace convention was held at Congress Bhawan in Imphal where participants from 10 like-minded political parties and a team of Left MPs urged Chief Minister N Biren Singh to take full responsibility for restoring peace, bridging divides, and healing the wounds of the people.
The convention was organised by political parties including, AAP, AIFB, AITC, CPI, CPI(M), INC, JD(U), NCP, RSP, and SS (UBT). It served as a platform for various political parties and leaders to unite in their efforts to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur, while also highlighting the need for the central government to address the ongoing violence and take necessary action.
The five-member team of Left MPs, consisting of John Brittas and Bikashranjan Bhattacharya from CPI-M, and Binoy Vishwam, Sandosh Kumar, and K Subbarayan from CPI attended the convention after visiting the state to assess the prevailing situation in Manipur.

The convention strongly condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence on the turmoil in Manipur.
They expressed disappointment that he has not spoken a single word on the situation nor appealed for peace and restoration of normalcy in the state during the past 65 days.
The participants expressed gratitude to Rahul Gandhi for his two-day visit to Manipur as a peace messenger. They requested the five Left MPs to recommend necessary action through Parliament to the central government for restoring normalcy, peace, and tranquillity in Manipur, and urgently resolving the ongoing violence in the state.

In a sombre moment, the convention observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to those who lost their lives since the crisis began on May 3. The participants expressed sorrow, shock, and concern over the loss of lives.
Prominent attendees at the convention included CLP leader O Ibobi, CWC member Gaikhangam, MPCC president K Meghachandra, former MP Th Meina, former ministers M Nara, Nimaichand Luwang, and Kh Loken, as well as CPI leader L Sotinkumar among others.
