District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ukhrul, in collaboration with Manipur State Legal Services Authority, under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority, organised a painting competition at Destitute Children Home (Boys), Alungtang Ukhrul.
It was held as part of the closing ceremony for the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) two-week nationwide campaign on Empowerment of Citizens through Legal Awareness and Outreach Camp and Haq Hamara bhi To Hai.
The programme was led by District and Sessions Judge, Ukhrul cum chairman, Samom Ibjen; secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Ukhrul, Heeralata Moirangthem accompanied the programme.
The programme was attended by PA Phungreisung, MJS, Judicial Magistrate First Class cum Civil Judge Junior Division, Ukhrul, Retainer Lawyer, Ningnim, DLSA staffs, PLVs, Superintendent of the Destitute Children Home (Boys) and staffs of the home.
The painting competition was conducted in two categories under the themes (i) Effect of Drug Abuse for students of Classes 7 to 12 (ii) Deforestation for KG to Class 6.
During the programme, Samom Ibjen explained briefly about the legal services and also explained who is entitled to free legal aid services.
The programme was successfully conducted with a participation of 44 children of the home.
