More than 40 workers of BJP and NPP candidates of Wangkhei assembly constituency, joined the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) in support of JD-U candidate, Thangjam Arunkumar on Thursday.
Spokesperson of JD-U, Wangkhei unit, Haji Arafat Ali told media during the reception ceremony held at the residence of Arunkumar, Chingmeirong, Imphal East that the newly joined workers are from Hatta Golapati area.
Haji said the members willingly decided to support JD(U) candidate as the workers started losing hope to support towards their former candidates. He said BJP candidate, Okram Henry is not much mature to be representative for the people and NPP candidate, Erabot is much older to be a representative and with the hope that Arunkumar will bring welfare and development for a new Wangkhei assembly constituency, the new member joined JD-U, he said
He said earlier about 70 members of the BJP and NPP candidates joined JD-U and more people are going to join the JD-U in support of Thangjam Aunkumar, said Haji.
